The American Association of University Women (AAUW) empowers women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. Our nonpartisan, nonprofit organization has more than 170,000 members and supporters across the United States, as well as 1,000 local branches and 800 college and university partners. Since AAUW’s founding in 1881, our members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day — educational, social, economic, and political.

Independence Branch is an active, award-winning Branch of AAUW. It is a 10 Star Award Winning chapter in the state of Missouri and has been recognized for contributions to AAUW Funds. In addition, the branch participates in the Kansas City Area Interbranch Council and awards scholarships to deserving women to continue their education.
Upcoming Meeting: October 22, 2024 ~ Branch Meeting. Social Time begins at 6:30 pm, with a Meeting to follow at 7 pm. The Presenter is Bridget McCandless. Independence City Council Member-at-Large, sharing updates on the city’s activities and future plans.
